This month, Lucia shares a little with us about what brought her to Thrive, and how working with Oswaldo helped her access a safe and comfortable place to live.
What was happening in your life that brought you to Thrive?
I was going through a bad time, I had been a victim of domestic abuse and I was looking for an apartment to move into.
How did you learn about Thrive and where did you first meet with us?
I was at [an apartment's office] and urgently needed someone to help me fill out the application since I don't speak English, so I met Oswaldo, and he was able to help me.
How was your experience working with Thrive Advocates?
It was very nice and comforting to receive help in a moment of despair, it was a complete relief.
How have you or your perspective changed since working with Thrive?
Before I could only think about the limitations I had as a Spanish speaker, but I understood that with the help of Thrive and Oswaldo, I am not alone and I can receive help in difficult times.
Tell us a little about yourself!
At home we have some hobbies, for example: I like to go for walks, my eldest son likes to play the guitar and my youngest son likes the saxophone. We also have a cat, but he only likes to destroy the living room sofa...
Do you have any advice for others out there who might be in a similar situation?
We know that life is never easy and in the right place there will always be someone willing to help.
Thank you so much to Lucia for sharing your story with our community ❤️
