It's nearly back-to-school time, so this month we take a deep dive into our work with children and families in Central Oregon.
A lot of our work with families is housing-related, of course. We help families of all shapes and sizes search for, apply for, navigate, move into, and maintain their homes. We know how important it is to have a stable home and support system in childhood, so we support in any way that we can with parents and caregivers!
What happens when families come to see Thrive?
As with any initial meeting with Thrive, we start with getting to know each other and building a relationship. We find out what brought a family to see us, express gratitude to them for showing up for themselves in this way, and honor the bravery it took to seek help.
In addition to housing, other resources we may connect families with are varied and expansive:
Provide resource connections to basic needs like food, laundry, hygiene items, school supplies
Search for and connect with medical and mental health providers
Help families apply for health insurance
Provide information about Oregon Department of Human Services programs
We partner directly with ODHS in Prineville, Madras, and Warm Springs, receiving referrals and providing support for those in the TANF program.
Refer families to disability and school-related supports in the community
