This month we are highlighting our Bilingual Community Outreach Coordinator Peter Pecora who started with us at the beginning of the year. Peter grew up in the Bay area and studied Economics and Latin American Studies at Tulane University in New Orleans. He is well-traveled and spent a year abroad surfing and studying in Valparaiso, Chile. After graduating he worked as an apprentice carpenter in Big Sur and was a middle school Spanish teacher and soccer coach in New Orleans. He moved to Bend in 2022 and enjoys various outdoor activities such as snowboarding and mountain biking.
When asked why he moved to Bend he said “I have family in the area and wanted to check it out. After realizing that I wanted to stay, I began looking for a job. Thrive’s mission and values really aligned with what I want to see in this world.” Peter said that his favorite part about Thrive so far has been the people. “So far, I have loved working with the people at Thrive. Everyone is so open, welcoming, and authentic. Also it is so rewarding to solve problems to make a difference in the lives of others. I feel like I am working towards something positive.”
