For this month’s newsletter, we highlight one of our newest Community Outreach Advocates, Maya Jaquez! Maya is originally from San Jose, CA. While living in California, she enjoyed traveling to San Francisco for clam chowder in bread bowls, visiting the coast with her family to get seafood, and going to Santa Cruz for beach days. Now that she lives in Bend, Maya likes to spend her time floating the river with friends, going to concerts and shows, and eating all the good food she can.
When asked what brought Maya to Thrive Central Oregon, she said, “When I was growing up, my family would often volunteer with different non-profit organizations. Helping others, whenever you have the means to do so, is something I have been taught from a young age.” Maya also expressed that she loves getting to meet with so many different people. “Everyone has a different story, and I believe that everyone deserves to be heard and helped. I feel like this job has given me the opportunity to work towards making a truly positive change in the community around me.”
